Mercurius Australia is here to support Australian Steiner Schools, working closely with our school customers. We value the relationship we have with both schools and teachers, which is truly enriched when we get to visit a school and talk with teachers.
In the days preceding the WA Steiner Teachers' Day, we had the opportunity to visit three Western Australian Steiner Schools: Parkerville, Silver Tree, and Perth Waldorf School.
Nestled in the tranquil hills of Perth, Parkerville Steiner College and Silver Tree Steiner School share a vast 25 acre property. At Parkerville, we received a warm welcome from June, who graciously hosted us. As we sat down to chat, the melodious sounds of students in their music class provided a pleasant backdrop. June expressed keen interest in our assortment of chalk, particularly intrigued by the various techniques for combining them to create outlines, add shading, and produce a sense of depth in artwork. Still under development, Parkerville will be expanding to Class 12 by 2027.
A short stroll up the hill took us to Silver tree Steiner School. Anna, the Head of School at Silver Tree, treated us to an informative tour of the campus. We were privileged to view some impressive works by Class 4 students, which included various artistic endeavours such as drawings, doll making, and knitting. It was delightful to see our products being used creatively in the classroom setting.
Additionally, we had the pleasure of meeting Amber, a Steiner teacher who introduced her meticulously designed Steiner Teacher's Diary. This comprehensive and practical resource for teachers will soon be available for purchase on the Mercurius website.
Upon our arrival at Perth Waldorf School, we were warmly received by Georgia, who kindly devoted her time to guide us through the campus. While we didn't encounter any unexpected wildlife such as a leaping bandicoot, we were afforded the opportunity to peek into the classrooms, from Kindergarten up to Class 6.
As we concluded our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Bec at the Carriage. She graciously invited us to explore the Parents and Friends shop, which she oversees. It was truly inspiring to witness the passion and dedication Bec has invested in curating this delightful little shop.
Despite our brief visit, it was truly inspiring to experience these three Western Australian Steiner Schools. What struck us most profoundly was the strong sense of community and mutual support evident among the schools. It was heartening to witness the unwavering commitment to Steiner education principles, and how free-flowing knowledge and experiences is between these schools. This collaborative approach seemed to strengthen and enrich the educational environment across all three campuses.
