About the Author:

“For as long as I can remember, drawing at Waldorf schools has been done with Stockmar blocks. With this material, a mood can be established in beautiful, broad strokes. However, what is often forgotten is that you can also draw very well with them, and that the material lends itself perfectly to capturing the gesture of the form. This requires, however, mastery of various drawing techniques linked to this material,” says Paul van Meurs.

Paul van Meurs was a classroom teacher for 22 years and subsequently worked as a senior educational consultant for 20 years. Now, he supports teachers in providing art in education and education as art. In this way, he helps teachers and teams shape Waldorf education. For many years, he provided the blackboard drawing course during Waldorf Teachers' Week.

This book is the result of extensive research into didactics, materials, and techniques in drawing and painting education. It was created specifically to introduce teachers (and thereby children as well) to the versatility of drawing with Stockmar blocks.

Paul van Meurs: “To me, these blocks are much more than just material – they are the carriers of my ideas and vision. Thanks to their rich colours and composition, I can easily give shape to my ideas. But above all, the blocks are simply incredibly pleasant to work with!”
